In one of these ports —it is not known with certainty which one— a brief mention was found in an anonymous document, discovered centuries later among the scattered fragments of Sorrento and Gedes.
The crossing

🔹If you follow the ancient routes of Rome, you can still walk in their footsteps.
In Vannes, beneath the modern city, lies a hidden underground aqueduct built by the Romans.
From there, the road leads to Galicia, where Vicus Spacorum minted coins under Augustus’s permission.
Continuing south to Almería, the remains of a Roman pier rest intact… right beneath a traffic roundabout.
To the west, in Lisbon, tombstones still whisper the ancient name of Olissippo.
In Tarraco, the podium of Augustus’s temple still stands, where the emperor was once worshiped.
And if you cross the sea to Pompeii, a charcoal inscription lists ships arriving from Hispania… just before the end.
